Co-organized with the HKU Centre for Comparative and Public Law and supported by lead sponsor Hong Kong LGBT+ Attorneys Network and supporting organizations Pink Alliance and WYNG Foundation, the MEF was a free community conference aimed at bringing local activists, academics and allies together for a dialogue on how to advance marriage equality in Hong Kong.
Guest speakers included Marco Wan, an associate professor of law at HKU; Tim Parker and Geoffrey Yeung, barristers-at-law at Denis Chang’s Chambers; Angus Leung, the plaintiff in the Angus Leung case; Evan Wolfson, founder of Freedom to Marry (FTM); Cameron Tolle, FTM’s director of digital action; Thalia Zepatos, FTM’s director of research and messaging; Jennifer Lu, coordinator of Marriage Equality Coalition Taiwan; and Victoria Hsu, founder of Taiwan Alliance to Promote Civil Partnership Rights.
