Hong Kong Marriage Equality Calls for Government Action Following Angus Leung Court Decision

After five years of fighting for their rights as a married couple, Angus and Scott have won a much-deserved victory. The LGBT+ community is grateful for them for being such strong advocates for marriage equality, and we send them our congratulations and well wishes from the heat of every HKME campaign volunteer.

The decision by the court highlights the gap between LGBT+ rights and the current laws and policies that discrminate against the LGBT+ community. Ensuring equality for same-sex couples enhances the institution of marriage, protects families and strengthens our community.

There is no more time to waste; the government should immediately implement the court’s decision by introducing marriage equality and reviewing all policies and laws that discriminate against families on the ground of sexual orientation.
